On December 2nd, 2017 I was given the opportunity to photograph the backstage area of the All Out Beauty and Fashion Event 2017. As photography is not my full time job or even something I do on a regular basis, I decided to take this opportunity to just simply once again step out of my comfort zone. As we all know, I am just not that beauty, fashion and photography kind of woman. But this year was all about coming out! So I played by the rules and did my absolute best and surprisingly I came accross beautiful surprises.
The team: the team who hosted this event, was in my first impression very important people, well-known public figures who I only followed on instagram. Had I not met some of them, I wouldn’t know these people were so kind-hearted, heartfelt and passionate inspirations. All of them one by one very passionate about what they are doing and inspiring others to do so themselves.

The other photographers: as I was the newbie amateur photographer here, without any training whatsoever in photography (O well except the one I got from my boyfriend), these photographers were kind enough to give me some pointers and help out.
The models: as seen on tv, models are merely living dolls (or that’s what I thought before this
event). And you know what? They most definitely are! I had the most wonderful experience to see these models in their purest, truest form. Most of them were very kind people, enjoying what they were doing best, helping each other out, complimenting each other. There was one big web of teamwork!
Talent: I couldn’t image how much talent there was in braiding afro hair! Like, can I get me some of that hair??? At first I couldn’t guess what those models were showing, and knowing me I was going to observe and guess what it was. Until they were complete and I saw the different types of hair updo’s. I was stunned!

Colors: Personally I don’t like to apply make-up all that much, but seeing these artists work their color creativity. It was like the colors came to life and the passion they had done it with expressed all the love they had for it.
Like I said, I’m not the beauty, fashion and photography kind of woman. But having the opportunity to experience this behind the scenes I can now imagine the love and passion for it. For me, this experience meant: Meeting beautiful people, inside out and the creativity behind fashion designs. I couldn’t be more thankful documenting the backstage area on photo, for this was the transformation area where everyone was being vulnerable and real. Thank you team, thank you to everyone who was open to letting me click the moment away.
